The city of Nuwara Eliya was established in the year 1846  by Lake Albert who was an explorer.  History of this city generally begins in 1818, when Dr. John Davy found it as a location with a climate comparable to that of England, as well as a location suitable for hunting. Transportation

Train and Bus 

You can take the train from Fort  and get off at the Nanu Oya station. From here you can take a taxi to Nuwara Eliya which would be an hour’s journey. This train journey would take you about 6 hours and 15  minutes. A lot of travelers enjoy the train ride due to the beautiful scenery along the way.
